Bsure DNA test

What does your immune system do when you are injected with a filler?

Fillers and your genetic predisposition
A filler treatment is a safe cosmetic treatment. Nevertheless, it can sometimes go wrong, even if the treatment has been performed correctly and professionally. This is because you may have a genetic predisposition that causes your own immune system to react extremely to the fillers. The fillers are then rejected by your body, which can cause serious complications and lifelong discomfort. To determine whether this is the case with you, the Bsure DNA test for fillers can play a crucial role.

More about Bsure DNA test

Fillers and genetic predisposition
Bsure Medical has developed a unique DNA test that shows whether your genetic predisposition could cause an increased risk of serious complications from fillers. The test was developed in collaboration with 4 renowned doctors and researchers at medical universities in Spain and the Netherlands.

Why is the Bsure test for fillers important to you?
The test shows whether you have a genetic predisposition to serious complications after filler treatment. The scientific research on which the Bsure DNA test is based shows that if you have a certain genetic predisposition, there is an 84% chance of these serious complications. A positive result of the BSure DNA test confirms that you have this genetic predisposition. In that case we advise against undergoing any filler treatment. With a negative test result, complications cannot be ruled out, but the chances of them are much lower.

How the Bsure test works

How does the Bsure test work?
You can easily make an appointment online to perform the Bsure DNA test at SkinSensible. The doctor at SkinSensible de Bsure will take the DNA test using a saliva sample (see photo). The DNA sample will then be sent to the lab for analysis. After the DNA sample is received by the lab, the result of the analysis will be known after 10 to 14 days. This will be discussed with you by the SkinSensible doctor (at the clinic or by phone) and you will receive the test report by email. If the result is positive, it is not recommended to proceed with filler treatment. The cost of the Bsure DNA test is 240 euros. Because your DNA does not change, you only need to perform this test once.

FAQ

What does the Bsure DNA test show?
The Bsure DNA test for filler treatments shows whether you have a genetic predisposition to severe rejection reactions after filler treatment. The scientific research and research population, on which the Bsure DNA test is based, shows that if you have a certain genetic predisposition, there is an 84% chance of these severe rejection reactions. A positive result of the Bsure DNA test confirms that you have this genetic predisposition. It is then inadvisable to proceed with filler treatment. With a negative test result, complications cannot be ruled out, but the likelihood of them is much lower.
Fillers can cause mild, temporary complications, such as local inflammation or irritation. These complications usually disappear after a few weeks or are treatable. The Bsure DNA test is aimed at preventing serious complications caused by a genetic predisposition that makes one's own immune system react extremely violently to fillers. These serious complications can manifest themselves in the first 3 to 6 months after treatment, but also after 5 to 8 years. These are the so-called late-occurring immune-mediated side effects to fillers. The probability of these reactions is small (1 to 3%), but the consequences are complex and serious. They can become chronic symptoms that require months, years or, in some cases, lifelong monitoring and treatment.
There are some people who have a genetic predisposition that causes their own immune system to react extremely to fillers. The fillers are then rejected by the body. Medical complications that can occur include chronic and/or local inflammation that may require months or years of medical treatment and can have lifelong consequences. The likelihood of these severe rejection reactions occurring is low. However, if they occur, the consequences can be severe. Several studies have been done on the risk of these serious complications. In these studies, the risk of rejection reactions ranges from 0.4% to 4% of cases . The medical-scientific team involved in the Bsure study estimates the risk, based on their own experience and studies, at 1 to 3% of cases.
The Bsure test is taken through a saliva sample with a cotton swab from the mouth between the cheek and gums and is completely painless.
Your DNA sample will be sent to the Fagron Genomics laboratory in Terassa, Barcelona (Spain). The Fagron Genomics laboratory does not have your personal data and only uses the barcode of your DNA sample.
Everyone has specific immune cell receptors on the outside of their cells. These are called HLAs: Human Leukocyte Antigens. These are part of the human immune system. The HLAs can recognise whether something is natural or foreign. They make you body recognise and attack a bacterium or virus, keeping you body healthy. The Bsure DNA test for fillers is designed to find out your genetic predisposition to the HLAs. The scientific study on which the Bsure DNA test fillers is based showed that the combination of the HLAs DRB1*03 and B*08 causes an increased risk of immune-mediated rejection reactions to fillers. The Bsure test determines whether a person has this combination of HLAs.
After the DNA sample is received by the lab, the result of the analysis will be known after 10 to 14 days. The result will be discussed with you by the SkinSensible doctor (at the clinic or by phone) and you will also receive the test report by email. If the result is positive, it is not recommended to proceed with filler treatment.
No, the Bsure DNA test is a one-off. It tests your genetic predisposition and it does not change.
The Bsure DNA test has been reduced in price and now costs 240 Euros.
