As we age, we all face it: sagging skin. The rate at which this happens is determined by hereditary factors and lifestyle (diet, smoking, sunlight). The main areas of skin sagging are usually the face and neck but also happens in other areas of the body such as upper arms, abdomen and knees. Especially for the treatment of these areas, there is now Profhilo Body.
What is Profhilo Body?
Profhilo Body is an anti-ageing injectable treatment with a large amount of pure hyaluronic acid without chemical additives, specially developed to treat skin laxity of the body.
How does Profhilo Body work?
Profhilo Body's pure hyaluronic acid provides deep hydration and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, making the skin firmer, healthier and more resilient. Profhilo Body is not a filler and rejuvenates the skin without changing its volume.
Where does Profhilo Body work?
Profhilo Body is great for treatment for skin laxity of the upper arms and abdomen but can also be applied to other parts of the body such as knees, elbows and buttocks.
Profhilo Body Kit
The Profhilo Body Kit is a complete treatment package to bring the skin into optimal condition both in the clinic and at home.
It contains 2 pre-filled Profhilo Body syringes of 3 ml each of ultrapure hyaluronic acid (48 mg high & 48 mg low molecular weight). This is sufficient to treat 2 zones (e.g. upper arms) or 2 treatments of 1 zone (e.g. abdomen).
It also contains Profhilo Figura Body Patches, which are used in the clinic to immediately soothe and moisturise the skin after treatment.
Finally, it includes a vial of Profhilo Figura Body Cream for home care. This proven effective cream absorbs quickly and has a silky, rich texture.
Treatment Profhilo Body
Consultation
During the consultation, the doctor will go through your wishes and related treatment techniques with you and advise you on the best way to achieve an effective and natural result. You will receive information on the expected effect, possible side effects and risks, and costs. The doctor will draw up your individual treatment plan and discuss informed consent. We also ask you to complete a medical questionnaire. Please do this as accurately and correctly as possible. After all, your medical condition can affect both the treatment and the results.
Treatment
During treatment, the so-called BAP technique is used. These are injections in 10 anatomically sophisticated areas that ensure optimal results. Profhilo Body spreads very well in the skin so only a few injections are needed to treat an entire zone. The treatment of 1 zone takes only 15 minutes and may cause some discomfort or mild pain. The treated area is then covered with a Profhilo Figura Body Patch to immediately soothe and moisturise the skin after treatment. After the treatment
Most clients continue their daily activities immediately after treatment. However, it is important not to touch the treated area for the first 2 hours after treatment. Also, avoid visiting the gym for up to 1 day after treatment and the sauna for up to 1 week. Leave the Profhilo Figura Body Patch on the treated areas until the patch releases on its own (up to 24 hours). Use Profhilo Figura Body Cream in the morning and evening on the treated areas for the first month after treatment. These and other precepts are listed in our aftercare brochure.
Side effects
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the skin and possible side effects of Profhilo® Body are usually mild and temporary in nature. The skin may be somewhat red and swollen after treatment. In some cases, a bruise may appear or some temporary bumps may be visible. These and other possible side effects will be discussed during the consultation. If you have any doubts about a side effect, always contact your doctor immediately.
Result
The moisturising result of a treatment with Profhilo Body usually becomes visible/feeling after a few days. From 6-10 weeks after the first treatment, the positive effect is increasingly evident. This is because the production of collagen and elastin takes time. For optimal results, we recommend repeating the Profhilo Body treatment after 1 month and every 6 months thereafter. The duration of the effect varies from person to person and depends on age, skin type, lifestyle.

Injected hyaluronic acid normally disappears within 24 to 48 hours, but by stabilising it, it can stay in place for 3 to 4 weeks. What is special about Profhilo is that IBSA, the Swiss company behind the product, has a patented technology to stabilise hyaluronic acid "without" any chemical additives.

Does a Profhilo Body treatment hurt?
The pricks of an injectable treatment can feel a little uncomfortable. However, most people do not experience it as painful. The needles for injectables are very thin. If you wish, we can numb your skin.
