What is it?
Profhilo consists of ultra pure hyaluronic acid stabilised without added chemicals using patented NAHYCO technology. Hyaluronic acid is occurs naturally in our skin but decreases as we age. It can retain water up to 1,000 times its own weight.
How does it work?
Profhilo's pure hyaluronic acid prompts the skin to bind moisture and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. This improves the complexion, texture and hydration of the skin and gives it more firmness and elasticity. It is not a filler and thus offers the possibility of rejuvenating the skin without adding volume. The hyaluronic acid from Profhilo is slowly and completely broken down by the body.
Where does it work?
Besides the face and neck, any body part where the skin is sagging or ageing is suitable for treatment with Profhilo, such as the décolleté, upper arms, hands, lower abdomen.
Treatment with Profhilo
Consultation
Before your treatment, your doctor will discuss your wishes and corresponding treatment techniques with you in detail and advise you on the best way to achieve an effective and natural result. You will also receive information on the following aspects of treatments and products: the realistic expected effect, the possible side effects and risks and the costs. Your doctor will draw up your individual treatment plan and you will sign an informed consent with detailed information about the treatment.
Treatment
The doctor marks the injection points on your skin with a soft pencil. There are in total 10 injection points: the so called BAP points. Profhilo is then injected at those points. An average treatment takes 15 minutes and may cause some discomfort or mild pain. After the treatment, we will give you aftercare information for the next few days.
After the treatment
After a treatment with Profhilo, 10 small bumps are visible, which usually disappear the next day. Most clients continue their daily activities immediately after treatment, but not everyone reacts in the same way.
Side effects
Profhilo treatment is very safe. In some cases, mild and temporary side effects such as oedema or bruising occur. This mainly happens in the first week after treatment.
Result
The result can be seen and felt after a few days. Profhilo is not a filler and does not change the shape of your skin, but hydrates it. Your skin feels firmer and more even after treatment. For optimal effect, the treatment is repeated after 1 month and then maintained with a treatment every 6 months.

What result can I expect from a Profhilo treatment?

It stays under the skin for 3-4 weeks, but the effect continues because Profhilo activates your own connective tissue to produce new collagen. Profhilo is often applied as a course of several treatments per year to continue and maximise results.
How safe is treatment with Profhilo?
A treatment with Profhilo is very safe. This is because Profhilo contains pure hyaluronic acid, an endogenous substance that the body itself can break down. Injected hyaluronic acid normally disappears within 24 to 48 hours, but by stabilising it, it can stay in place for 3 to 4 weeks. What is special about Profhilo is that IBSA, the Swiss company behind the product, has a patented technology to stabilise hyaluronic acid "without" any chemical additives.
It is also important to make a safe choice. When can I resume my daily activities?
Right after treatment! However, small bumps and sometimes some bruises may appear on the day of treatment. And you should not wear make-up on the day of treatment. We also advise you not to exercise or go to the sauna for 12 hours after treatment. Read more details in our aftercare brochure.
Does Profhilo treatment hurt?
The pricks of an injectable treatment can feel a little uncomfortable. However, most people do not experience it as painful. The needles for injectables are very thin. If you wish, we can numb your skin.
