What is SkinPen?
SkinPen is the world's first FDA-approved microneedling system. Medical microneedling is used to renew and improve the skin naturally. The SkinPen makes lots of miniscule holes in the skin, which activates the skin's own wound healing. Dhe focus is on treating the second layer of skin and is therefore also called collagen induction therapy (CIT).
How does SkinPen work?
The SkinPen makes 1,600 tiny holes per second in the skin through sterile needles that vibrate into the skin. This activates the natural repair process deep in the skin, creating new collagen and elastin. Collagen provides volume and firmness to the skin, while elastin ensures its resilience. The result: the skin becomes firmer, more elastic with better complexion.

Treatment with SkinPen
Consultation
During the consultation, your doctor will discuss your cosmtic wishes and corresponding treatment techniques and advise you on the best way to achieve an effective and natural result. You will also receive information about the realistic result to be expected, the possible side effects and risks, and the cost. Your doctor will draw up your individual treatment plan and you will sign the informed consent with detailed information about the treatment.
Treatment
To make treatment with SkinPen comfortable, an anaesthetic cream is usually applied on the area to be treated. The doctor will then treat the area with the SkinPen, adjusting the needle depth to the optimal value for the treated indication. An average treatment takes 30-45 minutes and may cause some discomfort. Immediately after treatment, a SkinPen cream is applied to soothe the skin.
After the treatment
After a SkinPen treatment, your skin is extra vulnerable. For an optimal result of the treatment, it is important to carefully follow the rules of life in the aftercare leaflet. These include applying the Skinfuse Lift cream (1st 24 hours after treatment) and the Skinfuse Rescue cream (2nd 24 hours after treatment). In addition, do not exercise and/or go to the sauna for 72 hours, finally apply SPF 50 consistently for 4 weeks to prevent pigmentation and do not do any other facial treatments. After 4 weeks, we would like to see you back at the clinic for a check-up or repeat treatment.
Side effects
The minuscule holes the SkinPen makes in your skin may cause the following harmless side effects: slight swelling of the skin, a tight, irritated, stinging or burning sensation, and warm, red skin. Spot bleeding may also occur, which are very small superficial bruises that look like red or purple dots. The skin closes within 18 to 24 hours after treatment. Therefore, these symptoms usually disappear within 24 to 48 hours.
Result
The result of a SkinPen treatment lasts for 6 to 12 months, but depends on the indication, skin condition, and environmental factors. For optimal effect, the SkinPen treatment is repeated 3 to 6 times with a 1 month interval.
